Taking place every year, the Security Research Event (SRE) brings together representatives from the security industry, policymakers, and research institutes to discuss the state of security in Europe. The event also serves as a showcase for the most innovative projects from the EU’s research program in the field of security.
This year’s SRE will be held from March 1 to 2, 2022 at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in Paris, France. It is organized by the European Commission in collaboration with the General Secretariat for Defense and National Security (SGDSN) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) and will be hosted by France during its EU Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
With lessons learned from the COVID-19 crisis, the event “Europe’s resilience put to the test tomorrow: confronting new security challenges through research and innovation” will emphasize the importance of increasing Europe’s resilience while also demonstrating how research and innovation in the field of civil security can contribute to this goal.
SRE 2022 will be organized around two main pillars: on the one hand, a conference that will explore the primary subject from a variety of perspectives; and on the other, an exhibition that will showcase the greatest projects that have been funded by the European Union and the French program.
The event will take place at a critical juncture in the history of the European Union, as it will coincide with the launch of Horizon Europe, the EU’s new framework program for research and innovation.
