Bermuda’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner is a governmental organization in charge of promoting and preserving the country’s privacy rights. The Commissioner’s responsibilities include supervising and implementing the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Bermuda’s fundamental privacy and personal data protection legislation.
The Office works to ensure that individuals’ personal data is managed responsibly and in accordance with PIPA, and it offers individuals and businesses tools and guidance on their rights and duties under this law. The Privacy Commissioner is in charge of investigating complaints, promoting privacy rights awareness, and advising on privacy policy and legislation.
45th Global Privacy Assembly
The Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) is a global conference that is looking for leadership in the fields of data protection and privacy. It has brought together more than 130 data protection and privacy watchdogs from around the world.
The goal of this cybersecurity conference in Bermuda is to create an environment in which privacy and data protection authorities all over the globe are able to effectively act to fulfill their mandates, both individually and together, by collaborating, building networks with one another, disseminating information, and sharing knowledge, experience, and recommendations for best practice.
