With its presentations and publications of original, basic, and applied research in advanced manufacturing, the North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC) hosted by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) is recognized as North America’s preeminent and longest-running international forum for applied research and industrial applications in manufacturing and design. It is also the international forum with the longest history.
Since 1973, the NAMRC has been held on an annual basis. Its purpose is to strengthen the scientific basis of discrete-parts manufacturing, which in turn leads to the development of next-generation applications of new and cutting-edge technology in material removal, shaping, and additive manufacturing processes and machines, as well as cyber-physical systems. Global academicians, researchers from government and business, manufacturing industry executives, engineers, students, and other manufacturing professionals attend the conference to network with one another and progress the industry. Papers presented at NAMRC are vetted by experts in the field, and the conference also includes keynote speeches, specialized opportunities for networking and collaboration, and awards for outstanding research implementation, service, and accomplishments.
