CPS Rising Stars 2022/2023 Workshops
On the 26th of May 2022, the very first CPS Rising Stars Workshop will take place at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. The purpose of this workshop is to find exceptional Ph.D. students and postdocs who are interested in pursuing academic careers in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) related fields and provide them with mentoring opportunities.
CPS are engineering systems that are developed from and depend upon the seamless integration of computing and physical components.
These engineered systems are referred to as cyber-physical systems. CPS technologies are revolutionizing the ways in which people engage with designed systems, much in the same way that the Internet has revolutionized the ways in which people interact with information.
This session hopes to promote representation and diversity in CPS by promoting applications from underrepresented races, women, and people with disabilities, in particular. The submissions will be evaluated by the workshop program committee, and CPS Rising Stars will be chosen based on the applicant’s potential for academic leadership and quality in research. The successful candidates will be provided financial assistance to cover their travel expenses so they may attend the program. Their biographies will be highlighted in the event brochure in addition to being included on the workshop website.
In addition to research presentations made by participants of the workshop, the agenda for the workshop will include panels and presentations on how to navigate the academic job search process and how to be successful as a junior faculty member. The participants in this workshop will have the opportunity to network with their peers and get ideas about how to navigate the early phases of their careers in academia. This will open the door for participants to engage in ongoing collaboration and professional assistance in the years to come.
