The annual Cyber Summit hosted by Appalachian State University is a one-day professional development event during which guests will have the opportunity to hear from the foremost authorities in the field of cybersecurity. The event will be held on the campus of Appalachian State University in the brand new Grandview Ballroom at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with industry experts and business leaders as well as develop partnerships with the Department of Computer Information Systems and its most promising students. The Department of Computer Information Systems will receive all of the proceeds from the event, which will be used to finance student scholarships.
The Appalachian State Cyber Summit is just in its second year, but it has already established itself as one of the most important events concerning cyber security in the tri-state area consisting of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The Summit’s inaugural iteration brought in a variety of speakers, including those from renowned security software vendors, consultancies, and industry practitioners. Over 130 people signed up to attend the 2021 Cyber Summit in violation of the COVID regulations.
The money earned from the event in 2021 was utilized to award an unprecedented number of scholarships to students majoring in computer information systems at Appalachian State University for the academic year 2022-2023.

Appalachian State Cyber Summit 2023
Attendees of Appalachian State University’s annual Cyber Summit, which is part of their professional development series, will have the opportunity to hear from the foremost authorities in the field of cybersecurity. Attendees will have the chance to network with industry experts and corporate executives as well as forge collaborations with the Department of Computer Information Systems and its rising star students during this event, which will occur on the campus of Appalachian in the new Grandview Ballroom at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Student scholarships are awarded by the Department of Computer Information Systems and are funded entirely by the proceeds from the events.
The Appalachian State Cyber Summit established itself as one of the most important gatherings focusing on cyber security in the tri-state area consisting of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia in 2022. Speakers and attendees from renowned security software providers, consultancies, and industry practitioners were among those that participated and presented at the Summit. Over 98 different companies were represented, and approximately 300 people attended. The proceeds from the Cyber Summit allowed an unprecedented number of scholarships to be awarded to students majoring in computer information systems at Appalachian State University for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Cyber Summit for the current year is scheduled for Friday, September 8th, 2023. They are delighted to announce that Lowe’s has agreed to serve as the event’s title sponsor for this particular year. In 2023, they anticipate hosting a record number of attendees, at least 400.
Moreover, they are thrilled to share the news that in conjunction with the Cyber Summit, they will be hosting their very first annual Women in Technology Dinner on the evening of Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Those attending can expect to hear key cybersecurity themes discussed by industry experts such as Lowe’s, HighPoint, Ally Bank, and Google, among others. During the Cyber Summit, attendees will have the opportunity to network with local business and technology leaders during breaks, lunch, and a social hour that will follow the event’s conclusion.
The Women in Technology Dinner Program will feature a keynote speaker as well as a moderated panel discussion on the potential and challenges related to increasing the number of women in technology. As part of the event, attendees will enjoy dinner as well as a social gathering with beverages following the program.
